Recuperative Care Program

Central Coast Respite Center

Quality care and case management for unhoused individuals transitioning from hospital care. Referral-only access.

About the Program

Recovery Needs a Safe Place to Happen

The Central Coast Respite Care Center (CCRC) opened in July 2016 to provide short-term recuperative care for individuals experiencing homelessness who have been discharged from a local hospital but still need a safe place to continue recovering.

CCRC is a 24-hour, non-medical facility where participants rest and recover while receiving case management, care coordination, and connections to health care, benefits, and community resources. Working collaboratively with the CCRC team, each participant develops an individualized discharge plan that supports continued recovery and progress toward stable housing. Length of stay is determined jointly by the referring hospital and the CCRC care team based on each participant's medical and social needs.

Bridge Housing Program

Participants who need additional time to secure permanent housing may be eligible for Bridge Housing — up to three months of temporary housing, case management, and housing navigation services to support a successful transition to stable housing.

Client Testimonials

"

I spent nine months in the hospital last year due to a major stroke. It's tough to be in a hospital for nine days, so nine months felt like forever. I could do nine months here no problem. The home setting feels great.

CCRC gave me a roof over my head while I was recovering from hip surgery, as well as help me look for permanent housing, which I have secured and will be moving into. Thank you one and all.
